Beauty of plants
This group is intended to gather observations exhibiting particular beauty of plants. The plants itself or poised on the background of Nature. The plants caught illuminated in an unusual way. The plants extracted from a background. Please publish observations satisfying these intentions, allowing exactly this group to be the permanent exhibition of the best works. Also take care, please, of the highest possible technical level of your photos. Do not publish works 'gray stem on gray background' or 'white lily on white background'. The administrators reserve right to remove such observations - of course after discussion with the author. All comments on presented works are welcome, in hope to be honest but not arrogant... Do not use anonymity in so called 'blog way'! Has such a group a chance to exist? Time will show... Many thanks to all colleagues for the wonderful collection of observations!
The emerging!
Shoots, leaf buds, flower buds - the promise of new life coming into existence! All the year round - not only in the springtime! And young flowers, young blossom, young leaves - the privilege of youth... Many thanks to all colleagues for the wonderful collection of observations!
Cultivars of all kinds ! 🏵
Welcome to this group. A cultivar is a variety of a plant species that has been artificially obtained for cultivation. And there are many of them ! In this group, all photos of cultivars are allowed, but please note the name of the cultivar if possible.

Flora of Western Ghats
The Western Ghats or the Western Mountain range is a mountain range that covers an area of 160,000 km² in a stretch of 1,600 km parallel to the western coast of the Indian peninsula. The area is one of the world's ten "hottest biodiversity hotspots." It has over 7,402 species of flowering plants, 1,814 species of non-flowering plants, 139 mammal species, 508 bird species, 227 reptile species, 179 amphibian species, 290 freshwater fish species, and 6,000 insect species. It is likely that many undiscovered species live in the Western Ghats.
Mount Suswa Conservancy
Mount Suswa Conservancy is a world spot of biodiversity. It contains various species of plants used by the MAASAI for many purposes ( medicine, food, etc..). This group is dedicated to the inventory of the endangered species of Mount Suswa. Under the supervision of Benoît Hazard (anthropologist, Cnrs) in conjunction with Maasai Mara university, this group is set to enhance participatory mapping. It intends to collect the endangered species in order to help the local community to protect them in order to protect them from trade and to integrate them as part of the MAASAI heritage into the Suswa Community Cultural Center.

Save River Park
The City of Lompoc, CA is already in the process of "improving" River Park...by tearing out all of the indigenous plants that support the local eco system of birds of prey and other protected creatures, by cutting down all of the shade-providing trees, and making the lush little lake full of ducks into a gravel trailer park. They've already paved 9 new RV spaces and covered them in gravel and concrete, and they've added a metal fence behind the spaces that has cleared a good 20 feet of native brush and trees beyond the fence itself into the riverbed. My goal is to document the plants and animals that thrive here in this coastal sweet spot. If the City achieves its goals, these will no longer be around and this group will be a valuable record. If the City sees the community caring about the preservation of this one little space of undisturbed nature, maybe they'll protect it along with us and shift their focus to making Lompoc a safer place!
