Native to north-western and north-eastern Turkey and south-eastern Bulgaria. Ornamental plant. Usable plant - a good ground cover plant, succeeding in the heavy shade of trees and in dry shade; very vigorous, it can swamp out small plants; a yellow-orange dye is obtained from the flowers.
