Łódź, Bielnik Geyera pond
Widespread over the Northern Hemisphere. Herbal plant - bark is alterative, astringent, emetic, haemostatic, laxative, ophthalmic, stomachic and tonic; bark contains salicin, which probably decomposes into salicylic acid (resembling aspirin) in the human body, thus used as an anodyne and febrifuge; outer bark is astringent and is applied as a poultice to bleeding wounds, it also reduces swellings. Usable plant - excellent pioneer species for re-establishing woodlands on disused farmland, difficult sites.
