Bratoszewice, ŁODR pond
It is native to the Middle East and Mediterranean regions. Edible plant - leaves raw or cooked, a hot pungent flavour, especially if eaten raw; young leaves are used as a flavouring in mixed salads, whilst older leaves are used as a potherb; seeds soaked in water then sprouted and eaten raw when the shoots are 3cm or more long; seeds can be ground into a powder and used as a food flavouring; the oil obtained from the seeds can be used in cooking, as a flavouring in mayonnaise, etc. Herbal plant - seeds are antibacterial, antifungal, appetizer, carminative, diaphoretic, digestive, diuretic, emetic, expectorant, rubefacient and stimulant; care should be taken in using this remedy because the seeds contain substances that are extremely irritant to the skin and mucous membranes; the leaves are carminative. Useful plant - the plant can be grown as a green manure crop.
